Oh Alpine Nelson I could never love another as much as you. You're fruity and juicy and delicous and now slightly more available. You're refreshing while thick, you're bitter and sweet, you're all things to everyone. You're just a great, balanced, beer with so much going on. Don't listen to the bartender saying you can tell that this is a Green Flash brewed Nelson because the water's different and your golden haze is a little thinner.
I'm sorry. I'm fawning. I know people don't like fawning. So I'll order this other beer.
Oh Toppling Goliath Pseudo Sue I could never love another as much as you. You're clean and oh so dirty. You're fresh and bright and smell like a jaunt through a tropical jungles. You're a romp with monkeys and a roll in the pine needles, and yet you're so reserved. You're tea time and tee time. You're saucy and fresh and sweet. Don't listen to the people saying it won't be the same because your brewer left in a huff.
I'm sorry, I'm fawning. I know people don't like fawning. So I'll order this other beer.
Oh Crux Fermentation Half Hitch I could never love another as much as you. You're fruity and juicy and delicious and your smell fells men with one whiff. You're a shower of mangoes and grapefruits in the morning, you're a thick blanket of freshness after the shower. You're dank and sweet at the same time, you're bitter and beautiful. Your hazy blonde look hides a serious undertone. You're a cheeky girl. And unique, even if your founder started Deschutes, too.
I'm sorry, I'm fawning. I know people don't like fawning. So I'll order this other beer....
Half Hitch IPA, Crux Fermentation Project
Appearance = 3.75/5
Clear gold with a small ivory head that dissappeared a bit too quickly for me. Still ambrosia-like in appearance.
Smell = 5/5
Smell those mangoes. Smell those grapefruits. Smell that basil. Smell those flowers. Yeah, fine, it's Mosaic, but it's still the best smelling beer I've ever had.
Taste = 4.5/5
All those things from above? There are in the taste, too. Tons of mango taste at least. Some guava. Pine, orange, everything you want. Yeah, it's bitter, but I was suprised my wife thought it bitter, because all the fruit and floral is so strong in there too. I found even a bit of tartness in there, but some thought it got limoncello and funky when it warmed. Was the tap so influential? Did I have it at the right temperature?
Feel = 4.5/5
Medium with a clear finish. Leaves you wanting another sip. Light body but tons of taste and then a bitter finish. It's the modern IPA, embodied, maybe pushed to a new place.
Overall = 4.5/5
I don't know about the haters on this one. Someone will always hate your girl. I thought this was everything I wanted in a big fruity juicy IPA (suprising 10% ABV, given the taste). I would want this in my fridge at all times. I bought them out of the beer when I discovered they had it in bottles in the back, at $7 a pop for 12 ounces. I've got two left....
