Beer Chat -- 11/14/14

Eno Sarris, November 14, 2014

So Washington State's best beer ended up 27th in our rankings, which suprised me even though I haven't had a ton of their beers. Their reputation is strong, at least. Seattle's the beer destination ballpark I haven't been to, at the very least. And Yakima valley produces the meaty portion of our hops.

But I'll admit one thing: it looks like I've never had a prominent Washington beer. No Elysian, no Freemont, no Georgetown, and certainly none of the smaller ones. Okay, I've had a Mike's Hard Lemonade at some point in my life, but otherwise, I might not have had a Seattle beer.

And so I think it's probably distribution that's lacking for the Washington beer scene. I checked the top five breweries on Seekabrew, and while Pike gets out of the state, Elysian was the only one that showed in California.

So: I got to get on Seekabrew, and Washington beers have to get some distro. Because they're supposedly really good beers.

The Week in BeerGraphs

How do you cleanse your palate while tasting beers? (I use sours).

No idea Bell's Mars came with a music selection!

Please give me Sensei Harvest. All the harvest beers.

Your state's best beer, part three (with Washington State).
